Janis Caudill, age 90 of Sunman, died Monday, October 26, 2020 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Born February 12, 1930 in Line Fork, Kentucky, she is the daughter of Ollie (Nee: Raleigh) and Jonah Ison. She married Hubert Caudill on December 14, 1949 in Whitesburg, Kentucky and was a homemaker.
Janis liked being outdoors, whether that was working in the garden, her flower beds, going for a walk or sitting on the porch. She also enjoyed her birds. She had several bird houses and kept them fed so she could enjoy them year round. Janis did quite a bit of quilting and crocheting as well. An excellent cook, she was an even better baker. Some of the treats her family will miss are her cupcakes, old fashion cookies and éclair cake. Her faith was important to her as Janis was very devout and was a member of Little Memory Church near Sunman. Most importantly, she loved her family and truly enjoyed having them at the house.
Janis is survived by her daughters Glenda (Virgil) Johnson of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Phyllis (Paris) Dwenger of Osgood, Indiana; son Scott (Janice) Caudill of Saline, Michigan; sister Acel Elam of New Albany, Indiana; brother Ailon Ison of Alabama; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Hubert and her parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Caudill and brothers Coeburn, Denzil and Odestal Ison.
Visitation for the public will be Friday, October 30th, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The current Governor’s mandate requires all attendees wear a facemask and observe physical distancing. The mask must cover the individual’s nose and mouth at all times. A private service will be held at 12:30 p.m. for immediate family only due to crowd and physical distancing restrictions related to the COVID mandate. Rev. Charlie Combs will officiate and burial will be in the Little Memory Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the AGAPE Center or Little Memory Cemetery Fund.
