James B. Pierce, 80, of Versailles passed away at 8 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2025 at his home. He was born in Los Angeles, California on October 9, 1944, the son of James and Dorothy Petit Pierce. He was married to Karen Cooper on November 26, 1964 and she preceded him in death on November 13, 2022. Survivors include two daughters Amy (Joe) Feller of Versailles and Angie (Robert) Evans of Cross Plains; four grandchildren David (Candice) Feller, Jena (Abel) Everage, Shelby (Derek) Wood, and Sam Evans all of Versailles; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother David (Kim) Pierce of Milan; two sisters Bev Stahle of Sunman, and Janice (Topper) Betz of Milan. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Tom. James was a heat and frost insulator, working for Local 8. His job took him to work in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania, with the last 20 years working for IKE in Madison. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Pierce attended the Bridge of Hope Worship Center. His wishes were to be cremated and his family will hold a celebration of his life at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southeast Indiana in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
