James “Jim” Martin Shackelford, 86, of Batesville, passed away March 22, 2022 at his daughter’s home in Lexington, North Carolina. He was born on May 10, 1935 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Pearl and Mary Elizabeth (Miracle) Shackelford.
Jim loved to work and he did so for as long as he could. It was not until he was 80 years old that he decided it was time to put his tool box down. He and his wife, Carol, were known to renovate homes as well. When he was not working, he enjoyed going to the gambling boats and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Clyde Shackelford (Diana), Linda Shackelford, Dennis Shackelford (Teresa), Wayne Shackelford (Chris), and Tresia Terwilliger (Gary); step children, Edward Burdett (Donna), Rick Burdett (Sherry), and Star Shaw; sister, Adeline Garland; and sister-in-law Jennifer Shackelford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Lorane Moyers Shackelford and Carol Flannery-Burdett Shackelford; son, Jerry Lee Shackelford; siblings, Tom Shackelford, Lucille Massengill, Hazel Massengill, Luther Shackelford, Lorene Moyers, Verdia Campbell, Clophas Shackelford, and Freida Johnson.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 28, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Meyers Funeral Homes in Batesville. A graveside service will follow immediately after at St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman.
Memorials can be given to St. Paul Cemetery by bringing to the services or mailing to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
