
Born on December 3, 1955, in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Robert and Bonnie (McNew) Arnold. Jim graduated from Greensburg Community Schools in 1974 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
After his service, Jim returned to Greensburg, where he worked for many years as an auto body mechanic. Known as one of the best in and around the area, his skill, attention to detail, and pride in his craft earned him great respect from both customers and friends. He retired after a long and fulfilling career doing what he loved.
Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #129. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved a good laugh, and was always the life of the party. His good sense of humor, happy spirit, and easygoing nature made him a joy to be around.
On April 19, 2008, Jim married Joan C. Johannigman, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Shawna (Jason Howard) Arnold and Callie (Eli) Arthur; grandchildren, Seth (Jordan Shrader) Powers, Madison (Dan Hall) Powers, Landry Arthur, and Emmett Arthur; great-grandchildren, Miles, Evelyn, Samuel, Sullivan, and Olivia; and his sister, Lynda Stipe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepchildren, Amy Hoppes and Eric Hoppes; and his brother-in-law, Roger Stipe.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m., with military honors to be conducted at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
