James “Jim” Joseph Koors, 93, Greensburg

James “Jim” Joseph Koors, 93, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at The Willows in Greensburg, Indiana.

Born on February 6, 1932, in Decatur County, he was the son of Clem and Gertrude (Hessler) Koors. Jim attended school in Millhousen. He later proudly served his country in the United States Army. On April 26, 1958, he married Marieda C. (Hoeing) Koors, and they shared 66 wonderful years together before her passing on October 18, 2024.

After his military service, Jim returned home to continue his lifelong passion for farming. Alongside his farming work and custom baling for neighbors, he was employed with the State Highway Department before beginning a long career at Bohn Aluminum, where he worked faithfully for 43 years until his retirement in 1997. Even after retiring, Jim continued farming for several more years and cared for his cows and sheep well into his later life.

Jim was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and funeral server. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Uniform Knight for the Knights of St. John in Millhousen and gave his time as a volunteer with the Marion Township Fire Department. He also served his community as Marion Township Trustee and as a member of the Marion Township Advisory Board.

Jim had a deep love for farming, his sheep, and his family. He especially enjoyed his wife’s cooking—most notably her sweets—and was affectionately known as the family’s “cookie tester.”

He is survived by his sons: David (Sherry) Koors, Ricky (Jenny) Koors, and Daryl (Cindy) Koors; his grandchildren: Brittany (Aaron) Beckett, Michael Koors, Bradley (Molly) Koors, Elizabeth Brown, Rebecca (Chris) Huddleston, and Katie (Jason) McGuire; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Carl (Julia) Koors, Donald (Geraldine) Koors, and Louis Koors; along with several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marieda; brothers, Sylvester Koors and Paul Joseph Koors; and sister-in-law, Rita Koors.

All services will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Greensburg. The Rosary will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father John Meyer officiating.
