James D. Tichenor, 84, the son of Monford and Mary Tichenor, was born January 13th, 1937 in Decatur County, and went home to be with the Lord on June 19th, 2021. He is survived by his wife Judy (Allen) Tichenor. They were wed on January 9th, 1960. James had two sons, James Elda Tichenor who survives, and Clinton Lee Tichenor who preceded him in death on March 27th, 2021. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Jill (Kenny) Dierckman and Jamie (Jake) Verseman; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Kay (Bob) Bayless. James was preceded in death by four brothers; Louis Tichenor, Dale Tichenor, Gerald Tichenor and Nathen Tichenor.
James was a wonderful husband of 61 years. He and Judy enjoyed many wonderful adventures, and they enjoyed trips to Florida with family and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 10:00 am also at the Funeral Home. Services will be available on Facebook Live. Rev. Doug Preston will be officiating. Private Burial will follow at the Lower Union Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Our Hospice of Decatur County.
