BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — An IU instructor has been fired for a sexual assault.
Guo Ping Wang was a senior lecturer at the Jacobs School of Music at IU-Bloomington.
An assault involving Wang was reported by a student to administrators on March 28, and a statement from IU says an investigation led to the decision to fire Wang and refer the case to IU Police.
The police department says it has opened an investigation, though no charges have yet been filed.
Wang is a native of China.
His IU-Bloomington bio, which has since been removed from the school’s website, says he was a ballet instructor, having previously studied in the graduate program at the Jacobs School.
Wang had previously danced with the Shanghai Ballet Company in China as well as Ballet Chicago and the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago.
He had also served as a guest coach for the Indiana University Ballet Theater.
