ISP arrests two, seizes quantity of meth

Versailles, In. — The Indiana State Police-Versailles Criminal Patrol Team made two drug arrests and seized nearly five ounces of crystal methamphetamine in Jennings and Bartholomew Counties Friday, November 30.

The investigation began when troopers located Patrick R. Sweany, age 48, North Vernon, Indiana who was wanted on a Jennings County warrant for possession of methamphetamine. When Sweany was taken into custody, he was found to have approximately one ounce of suspected methamphetamine in his possession as well as other drug-related items. Sweany was transported to the Jennings County Jail where he was incarcerated on charges of dealing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine. He was also incarcerated on the previous possession of methamphetamine charge.

Later that day, troopers responded to 2606 Hawpatch Drive, Columbus, Indiana after being notified of possible drug activity at the residence. After arriving at the residence, troopers located approximately 3.5 ounces of suspected crystal methamphetamine in the home. Jose Luis Hernandez-Barrera, age 47, was arrested at the scene. He was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was incarcerated on charges of dealing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.

Both suspects were incarcerated pending their initial court appearances.
