Batesville, IN — Current Batesville City Council President John Irrgang says he intends to run for Mayor in this November’s municipal election.
Irrgang, who represents District 4 on City Council, says his goals as Mayor would include getting young people in the 25-35 age range more involved in the community as a nod toward the future; continuing on the path of fiscal responsibility; improving infrastructure, and maintaining public safety – including keeping the sidewalks and streets safe for vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
Irrgang has served on City Council for a total of 12 years and on the Board of Works for 16 years total.
He also ran for Mayor in 1999.
If elected, Irrgang would succeed fellow Republican and two-term Mayor Mike Bettice, who is not running for re-election.
