Statewide — The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that $100.8 million in federal transportation funding is being awarded to 54 cities, towns, and counties in rural portions of Indiana to invest in local road and bridge improvements as well as sidewalk and trail projects. Combined with local funds, approximately $124.9 million is being invested in infrastructure in communities receiving funds.
Types of projects receiving funds include 32 bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects; 11 resurfacing/reconstruction projects; 6 Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) projects that include work such as sidewalks, ADA ramps, and trails; and 5 traffic safety projects.
In southeastern Indiana, funding will support 3 bridge projects and one preventative maintenance project totaling over $9 million in funding. the projects are:
• Jefferson County – $1.24 million for bridge replacement on Sugan Hollow Rd over Brushy Fork Creek
• Union County – $2.5 million for bridge rehabilitation on Dunlapsville Rd over Brookville Lake
• Jennings County – $1.47 million for bridge rehabilitation on CR 250 W over Sand Creek
• Madison – $3.872 million for preventative maintenance of Old State Road 56/ Main Street
