Batesville, Ind. — Kokomo attorney, Republican Mark Hurt has announced his candidacy for United States senate. Hurt was a guest at the recent Ripley County Lincoln Day Dinner.
Hurt is a graduate of Taylor University and also earned a bachelor’s degree in political science/international relations from Baylor University. He has served as a legislative assistant for Iowa Republican Fred Grandy and a senior policy analyst and legislative assistant for Dan Coats. He has also served as a health policy advisor to Michigan governor John Engler. After graduating from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State he has practiced law in the Kokomo area.
Hurt believes strength is a deterrent and is required in international relations. He advocates a renegotiation of the Iranian nuclear agreement. Although he agrees with some aspects of the Affordable Care Act, but would seek to limit some of the taxes, mandates and lower premiums for businesses and individuals. He is also a pro-life, pro-family candidate that supports the second amendment.
