In Memoriam: John Tumilty

(Greensburg, IN) – Greensburg and Decatur County are saying goodbye to a man who dedicated his life to fire and emergency services, and improving the community.

Former Decatur County Emergency Management Agency Director and Greensburg Assistant Fire Chief John Tumilty passed away last week at the age of 87.

Tumilty spent more than 50 years in the fire service, including time as a volunteer firefighter.

In addition to his other contributions to the community, Tumilty was a co-founder and the first president of the Decatur County ARC, which advocates for persons with disabilities.

He’ll be laid to rest on Thursday.
