IDH reports more than 4,800 new COVID cases; death toll surpasses 18,000

STATEWIDE –The Indiana Department of Health on Wednesday reported 4,813 new cases of COVID-19 and 86 deaths across the state, which brings the death toll to 18,057 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

In addition, the state has confirmed 1,200,926 cases of the virus in the nearly two years of the pandemic.

Locally, Dearborn County reported 30 new cases; Franklin County had 29; Ripley County had 24 cases, and Decatur County reported 16.

There were no COVID-related deaths reported in the four-county area Wednesday.

Meantime, Ripley, Franklin, and Decatur counties are in Red on the state metrics map this week.

Dearborn County remains in Orange.
