Car carrier catches fire, causes interstate traffic headaches

BATESVILLE, IN — All westbound lanes of I-74 west of Batesville were blocked for about an hour Thursday morning after a truck carrying cars caught fire.

Firefighters rushed to the scene between the State Road 229 and Huntersville Road overpasses and put out the flames.

The car carrier was moved to the side of the highway, and traffic flow resumed.

There’s no word on what caused the carrier to catch fire.

No one was injured.
