HS softball recaps from March 30

The following are varsity softball recaps (unless stated otherwise) from Wedensday, March 30.  There may be updates, so please check back.

South Dearborn was an 8-3 winner over visiting Ross, Ohio.  Seven of the Knights runs came in the home sixth.  Kori Cornett, Cory Lee, Emma Seaver, Lauren Musgrove and Riley Lagaly all had two hits for SD. Cornett also was the winning pitcher.  She allowed just one earned run.

Rushville edged New Castle 9-8.  Kara Chandler struck out 11 in the win and the Lions defense committed just one error.  Offensively, Rushville’s Lily Brown singled twice and tripled with five RBI.  Grace Muir and Briley Munchel both had a pair of hits.

East Central routed Richmond 13-3 in five innings. Payge Callahan had three doubles and a triple with five RBI.  Jordyn Maurer and Ella Bruss both booked three hits, two ribbies and three steals apiece.  Anna Black pitched four innings for the win.

Franklin County blanked the Golden Eagles 7-0 at Cambridge City.  Wildcat pitcher KK Ferman threw a two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts. She also singled, double and tripled at the plate with an RBI.  Teammates Brooke Stang posted a pair of singles, Bree Bischoff drove in two runs while both Kensee Ferman and Josie Rolfes plated a run each with an extra base hit.

The JV Cats rolled to a 17-5 victory in five innings over Cambridge City.  The FC reserves got two singles, a double and an RBI from Bailey Kaiser, three ribbies and a hit from Bella Lee, four runs batted in and a triple from Kendal Cain and a pair of platted runs on a single from Annie Hoff.  Lee pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts against three hits and two earned runs.
