(Greensburg, IN) – The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County touted last year’s successes and looked ahead to 2025 at the annual Donor Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday.
Executive Director Mandy Lohrum recapped 2024, a year in which $309,593 was raised to support Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s healthcare initiatives.
She also gave a preview of this year’s coming attractions.
“Our new Board (of Directors) President is Cindy McCamment, and I’m excited to see her leadership to help us grow and continue to bring in donors,” Lohrum said. “We have our main (fundraising) events, which are all located on our website, dcmh.net/foundation, and you can also call us at (812) 663-1220. But we’re always looking for community partners and ways to help enhance Decatur County Memorial Hospital.”

McCamment’s predecessor as Board President, Jacob Evans, was recognized for his three years of leadership.
President and CEO Rex McKinney talked about successes in 2024 by expanding services, including the opening of the Rehabilitation Medical Office Building.
“That’s just been a fantastic addition to our campus,” McKinney said.
But he adds DCMH has had to clear some big hurdles in the post-COVID-19 era, such as inflation.
“It’s been very challenging for hospitals throughout the state and actually throughout the nation, and we’re doing our best to respond to it and I’m confident we will,” he said. “But it’s a period of time we have to work through and make some difficult decisions and respond make sure we’re meeting the community’s needs.”
McKinney also noted the hospital has been the busiest it’s been since the pandemic because of the spike in respiratory illnesses this winter.
“With the flu and actually there is some COVID circulating in the community at this point,” McKinney said. “But our team has been extremely busy meeting the needs of the community here recently, unfortunately some sicker individuals and we’re taking great care of them here at Decatur County Memorial Hospital and ensuring our community needs.”
Attendees also heard from local resident and attorney Drew Young, who presented a testimonial on the care he received at DCMH last summer after he was stricken with sepsis – a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body’s immune system overreacts to an infection – as the result of scratches he received on his hand while playing with his dog.
The dog’s teeth got into his hands. Young endured months of hospitalization and rehab.
The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County was founded in 1992 as a 501(c)3 organization to provide additional financial support for the healthcare initiatives of Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
