Helen M.C. Dau Brauer

Helen M.C. Dau Brauer 99, of Aurora, Indiana, passed from this earth, Saturday November 10, 2018 to be with her Heavenly Father.

She was born October 13, 1919 in St Louis, MO, daughter of the late Rev. William H.J. Dau and Helen (Krause) Dau. Helen went to St. John Lutheran School in Aurora, was a 1937 graduate of Aurora High School. She attended the Campbell Business College in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Helen worked as a Law Clerk for Doug Denmure’s daddy, Hartell Denmure, she worked at 20th Century Fox Cincinnati for 5 years, St. John Ladies Aid & LWMC, Aid Associates Lutherans. She then went on to work as an Assistant Manager for Sears and Roebuck Company, retiring after over 28 years of service.

Helen lived a very active life during her 99 years on this earth. She continued to live alone at her home in Aurora, and didn’t stop driving until she was 95. Helen was a life time member of St. John Lutheran Evangelical Church, serving in numerous capacities throughout the years. She took over the Secretary position on the River View Cemetery Board after Arnolds death, and was active in that capacity until the last several years. Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, flowers and feeling and watching birds. She also sent cards to shut-ins for Ladies Aid. Helen will be sorely missed by all her many loved ones, friends, and acquaintances.

She is survived by her loving family, son, Jerry Brauer of Bloomington, IN; daughter, Sharon (Lester) Widener of Aurora, IN; granddaughters, Robyn May of Lawrenceburg, IN, Lindsey Widener of Aurora, IN; great grandchildren, Kashmir May and Keillan Abdon; brother-in-law, Cecil Rahe of Cincinnati, OH sister-in-law Ramona (Brauer) Shaw of Sidney, NE and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Father, Rev. William H.J. Dau, Mother, Helen Dau, her loving spouse of 59 years, Arnold F. Brauer, brothers, William “Bud” & Margarite “Peg” Dau and Luther & Betty Dau. Her recently departed sister, Emily Dau Rahe.

Friends will be received Wednesday, November 14, 2018, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church Aurora, 220 Mechanic St., Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at Church, Wednesday at 2:00 pm., following visitation, with Pastor Edward Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.
