Helen Louise (Stone) Porter, 88, of Osgood passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. Helen was born Thursday, October 18, 1934 in Cambridge City, Indiana; daughter of Jake and Marjorie (Wagner) Stone. Helen worked at Kmart in Greensburg and also worked at IGA in Greensburg. Helen married the love of her life, Lawrence Porter, on December 12, 1954 and he preceded her in death January 19, 1993. Helen was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church of Cambridge City. She enjoyed working puzzles and reading detective-murder mystery books.
Helen will be missed by her children Larry Porter of Indianapolis, Marty (Nancy) Porter of Milan, Pamela (Robert) Sullivan of Greensburg, Todd (Robin) Porter of Tucson, Arizona, and Joanna (Ron) Weber of Sunman; eight grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Jake and Marjorie Stone; one daughter; brother Paul Stone; and sister Wilma Stone.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Helen from 10:00-11:00 AM, Monday, January 23, 2023, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mike Cantrell officiating. Memorials may be given in honor of Helen to the American Lung Association.
