Hazel Mangold, age 88, of Moores Hill, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Milan, IN.
Born on March 8, 1936, in Burning Springs, KY, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Lunsford and Daisy (Jewell) Lunsford. Hazel dedicated over 16 years of her life to working as a Custodian for Disney World, retiring from this role after many years of service. She was also a beloved member of the Moores Hill Church of Christ.
Hazel had a passion for various crafts and hobbies. She enjoyed baking, and on occasion, she made wedding cakes. In addition, she was talented in reupholstering furniture and took great pride in her gardening and canning skills. Above all, Hazel loved spending quality time with her family and friends. Her warm heart and joyful spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Hazel is survived by her sons, Herbert E. Mangold of Dillsboro, IN, and Gary (Vicki) Mangold of Lawrenceburg, IN. She is also survived by siblings: Laura “Ann” (Gene) Snelling of Aurora, IN, Virgie Howard of Milan, IN, and Glenn (Catherine) Lunsford of Lakeland, FL. Hazel was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: David (Julie) Mangold, Matthew (Jackie) Mangold, Brandon Mangold, Hanna Mangold, Joshua (Sara Merrill) Mangold, Shannah Vernon, Amanda (Ronnie Settles) Davis, and Chris (Olivia) Mangold. In addition, she was a great-grandmother to 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandmother to 7.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elisha and Daisy Mae Lunsford; her beloved husband, Herbert Gene Mangold; siblings, Henry Lunsford, Lucion Lunsford, Bill Lunsford, and Roy Lunsford; as well as a grandchild, Gary Mangold, Jr.
Friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Moores Hill Church of Christ, 13567 St. Road 350, Moores Hill, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at the church on Friday at 11:00 am, officiated by Tito Pel. Interment will follow at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Aurora, IN.
