Harriet Ruth Hunter, 77

Harriet Ruth Hunter, 77, Greensburg, passed away into God’s glory on December 19, 2018 in Columbus Hospital in Columbus, Ind. She was born November 30, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Beav and Myrtle Crisp Hoskins.

She lived most of her life in Decatur County. She attended school in Clay Township and Burney schools, and graduated in 1959 from Greensburg High School. She worked at the dress factory in Greensburg, was a housewife for many years, and then worked at the Indiana State Fair office, Internal Revenue Service, and Fort Benjamin Harrison Army Finance Center in Indianapolis before retiring.

She married Andrew Eugene “Bud” Hunter on October 18, 1959 at the First Church of God in Greensburg. They had six children: Nancy Jo (Everett) Collins, Indianapolis; Andrew Eugene Jr. (Denise) Hunter, Melbourne, Florida; Robert Matthew (Kristi) Hunter, Indianola, Iowa; William Edwin (Cindy) Hunter, Gilbert, Arizona; Beverly Jane (Jaime) Rivera, Greensburg; and Cindy Lou (Jay) Crowder, Brazil, Indiana. She had 14 grandchildren: Jessica, Adam, Amber, Jonathan, Sean, Samantha (and husband Sean), Mindy and husband Dane), Cody (and wife Lacey), Sabrina, Lucas, Sarah, Natalie, Becca, and Julia. She also had three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Kenneth Hoskins, San Antonio, Texas, and Jim Hoskins, Milroy.

She was a very passionate follower of Jesus Christ all her life and served Him faithfully until she was called home for her eternal reward. She loved tending her flowers, cooking and baking, listening to Christian and Southern Gospel music, reading books and magazines, chronicling her family’s ancestry, and attending and following all the adventures and activities of her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Richard Hoskins, sister Kathleen Wilson, daughter Nancy Collins, and son-in-law Everett Collins.

Services are being handled by Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 22nd with the funeral at 2:00. Pastor Mike Fields will officiate. Burial will follow at the Milford Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Relay for Life.
