H.S. baseball recaps from Tuesday, May 17

The following are high school baseball recaps from Tuesday, May 17.  All games are varsity unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

Batesville scored twice in the top of the seventh to defeat Union County 4-3.

Zach Wade drove in the tying run and Max Baumer plated what proved to be the winning run.  Teammate Will Jaisle knocked the other two runs on a sixth-inning double.  Charlie Schebler logged three hits.  Jack Grunkemeyer had two.  Both players doubled once.

Will Halbig started and pitched 4-1/3 innings with six strikeouts in a no decision.  Jaisle pitched the final 2-2/3 and got the win with seven Ks.

North Decatur doubled up South Decatur 8-4.  The Chargers erased an early 2-0 deficit with five runs in the third.

ND got three hits from Xander Jones, two by Jake Mirick with an RBI, two runs batted in by James Evans and a ribbie each from Ty Litmer, Brayden Hancock and Nolan Burkhart.

The Cougars Avery Seegers had two doubles, a single and one RBI. Devin Pate posted a pair of base hits and Cameron Henderson drove in two runs.

East Central lost 5-0 at Columbus East. The Olympians Will Boyer pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts.

EC’s only hits came from Brayden Rouse and Josh Ringer.
