North Vernon, IN — A Greensburg man suspected of drunk driving is facing an array of charges following a brief chase in North Vernon.
The North Vernon Police Department says 24-year-old Edward Eugene Brown III was pulled over for failing to dim his high beam headlights for oncoming traffic. During the stop, officers allegedly noticed that Brown appeared to be impaired.
When he exited the vehicle on the officer’s command, Brown reportedly ran off but was caught following a short foot pursuit.
Brown allegedly gave officers a false name and date of birth, but when his true identity was determined, officers discovered he is currently on home detention through Jackson/Jennings County Community Corrections and was supposed to be at work at the time of the incident.
Brown is now facing additional charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction within five years (Level 6 felony), driving with a suspended license (Class A misdemeanor), resisting law enforcement (Class A misdemeanor), and false informing (Class B misdemeanor).
He was booked into the Jennings County Jail.
