Greensburg, IN — The Greensburg High School Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) chapter is participating in projects as part of the General Motors Grant program to promote traffic safety, now through May.
The chapter must complete tier projects by June 1 in order to receive funding.
Next week (February 12-17), high school students will kick off the program with Seat Belt Selfies.
In a parked car, participants will take a selfie while wearing seat belts.
They’ll be shared on social media using #RockTheBelt. It’s also open to community members.
Later this month, students will conduct seat belt surveys around the Greensburg High School campus later this month.
After the first round of surveys, students will then participate in an education week on the safety of wearing a seat belt while on the roadways.
High School students will then conduct a second survey to see if there is an increase or decrease in the number of seat belts worn by the community.
The final tier for the students is Lead4Change, a series of leadership lessons that are easily integrated into any subject area and all classroom or club settings.
Designed to teach 6th through 12th graders how to lead and serve, the Lead4Change program is privately funded and available at no cost to educators and youth club advisers.
Upon completion, the Greensburg High School chapter will be recognized in July at the National SADD Conference in Washington, D.C.
