(Greensburg, IN) – Five Greensburg police officers were promoted and two received special commendations at Tuesday night’s Board of Works meeting.

Captain Derek Fasnacht was promoted to assistant chief; Lieutenant Wayne Davis was promoted to the rank of Patrol Captain; Sergeant Eric Lusk and Officer Casey Jones were promoted to Lieutenant; and Officer Thomas Tuttle was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

The commendations to Lusk and Officer Dillan Able stemmed from the October 8 incident on the west side of the Greensburg Square in which a car jumped the curb and hit a building.

Able was presented a Meritorious Conduct Award for his crowd control efforts and professionalism at the scene.

Lusk also responded to the incident and tied a tourniquet to an injured man’s leg, which potentially saved his life.

After the man was taken by ambulance to the hospital, Lusk continued working at the scene and investigated the crash as the primary officer.

He was presented the Lifesaving Award and the Meritorious Conduct Award.
