
Gloria Valentina Ferkenhoff, 92, of Cincinnati, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at The Wellington at North Bend Crossing. She was born on February 10, 1934, in Batesville, Indiana, the youngest child of Harry and Mathilda (née Billman) Ferkenhoff.
Gloria earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University and later a Master of Business Administration from Xavier University. She dedicated her career to healthcare, first as a compassionate nurse and then in administration for hospitals and nursing homes, where she combined her caring nature with strong leadership to improve patient care and operations.
She found joy in music, the companionship of her beloved dogs, and spending time with family, treasuring the simple moments that brought her happiness.
Gloria was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Ferkenhoff; and her sisters: Olivia Bentfield, Clotilda Schreiner, Margaret Hooten, Elverna Comer, Magdalen Bartling, Eugena Willett, Juanita Chappelow, and Mary Ferkenhoff.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and will fondly remember her gentle spirit and generous heart.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville. Burial will take place immediately afterward in St. Louis Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Louis Church Cemetery or Sylvester “Bess” Bartling Memorial Scholarship fund.
