Gerald D. “Hog” Watson

Gerald D. “Hog” Watson, 76, of Dillsboro, IN, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Monday, March 24, 2025.

He was born March 3, 1949, in Liberty, KY, to the late Arden and Pauline (Wheeler) Watson. On March 16, 2007, Gerald married the love of his life, Naomi “Nene” Dickerson.

Gerald was known for his love of being an “old school truck driver,” a profession he held dear, and he was grateful to Rob and Mona Ties for giving him the opportunity to work with them. He also had a deep passion for fishing, turtle hunting, and grilling out for family and friends. An excellent cook, he loved sharing meals with those he cared about and was always quick to entertain with stories, often beginning with “the old man said one time…” Gerald’s storytelling, humor, and warm heart made him a cherished friend to many.

In 2024, Gerald made the decision to accept Jesus as his Savior and was baptized on March 20, 2024. He enjoyed spending time with the residents and staff at the Waters of Dillsboro, where he formed lasting friendships that he considered family.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Naomi Watson; his children, Melissa Watson, Amber (Dale) Watson, and Joe (Mary) Watson; his grandchildren, Paige Watkins and Randall Watson, along with many stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Johnny Watson and family, and Paul (Charlene) Watson; sisters, Peggy (Robby) McIntosh of Dillsboro and Jackie (John) Seavers of Versailles; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arden and Pauline; his brothers, Jerry and Joe Watson; his sisters, Paula Taylor, Pam Cummins, and Glenna Cantwell; his daughters, Shelly Watkins and Elizabeth Watson; his son, Gerald Watson, Jr.; and his son by love, Mikey Watkins.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, IN 47001, with a service to follow at 1 PM. Evangelist Jay Jones will officiate. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill, Indiana.
