(Napoleon, IN) – Funeral arrangements for former Napoleon Fire Chief Ralph Meyer have been announced.
A public visitation will be held tomorrow (Tuesday, December 10) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Napoleon Fire Station on Millhousen Road.
The funeral will take place on Wednesday, December 11 at 11 a.m. at Smyrna Lutheran Church following a ceremonial procession from the Napoleon firehouse.
Area fire departments wishing to have an apparatus in the procession are asked to arrive for staging at the firehouse by 9 a.m.
The 72-year-old Meyer died last week after suffering a heart attack, just hours after helping fight a structure fire.
Meyer started in the fire service 58 years ago at the age of 14, and his son Steve now leads the Napoleon Fire Department as its Chief.
Ralph Meyer’s brother is Napoleon’s assistant chief, and his grandson and granddaughter also serve.
His father also served with the department, which means four generations of the Meyer family have been active in the fire service.
