Franklin County Shuts Out North Decatur JV, 13–0

Franklin County defeated the North Decatur Junior Varsity Chargers 13–0 on Wednesday, fueled by a seven-run second inning.

They jumped ahead early, scoring five runs in the first inning. A wild pitch brought in the first run, followed by an RBI double from Abby Thompson. Three more runs scored on wild pitches to give Franklin County a commanding lead.

In the second inning, Franklin County exploded for seven more runs on just three hits, aided by several defensive errors. Highlights included RBI singles from Thompson and Emma Middendorf, along with multiple runs scored on miscues.

Brynlee Green took the loss for North Decatur, pitching four innings and allowing 13 runs (six earned) on 11 hits, with three strikeouts and three walks. Maddy Smith started for Franklin County, giving up just one hit and no runs over three innings, while striking out four and walking one.

Green led North Decatur at the plate, going 1-for-2. The Chargers turned two double plays in the field.

Franklin County totaled 11 hits, led by Middendorf’s perfect 3-for-3 performance from the leadoff spot. Thompson, Middendorf, Naomi Seals, and Presley Kolter each recorded an RBI. The team added four stolen bases and turned a double play. Defensively, Franklin County was flawless, committing no errors, with Alexis Cowan recording a team-high six plays.
