(Brookville, IN) – Hamburg resident Bethany Luers was elected at a Franklin County Republican Party caucus to fill the County Council District 1 vacancy created last month when Mary Strong resigned.
Luers beat out two other candidates – former county councilman Joe Sizemore and Cody Hollars – for the position, and was immediately was sworn in by Franklin County Clerk and Republican Party Chair Neysa Raible.
She represents Blooming Grove, Fairfield, Laurel, Metamora and Posey townships plus Salt Creek 1 and 2 on county council.
Luers will serve the remainder of the term that expires on December 31, 2026.
