Former Franklin County auditor set to plead guilty in second theft investigation

Connersville, In. — Former Franklin County auditor Steve Brack has agreed to enter a plea of guilty in Fayette County Superior Court on Wednesday, February 14 at 3 p.m. The plea will end the case of four felony theft charges resulting from his service as treasurer at the Whitcomb Methodist Church. An investigation determined more than $5,000 was missing during his tenure.

In November of 2017 Brack entered another guilty plea for taking more than $1,400 from the Brookville Kiwanis Club. He was sentenced to two years in prison that was reduced to probation and ordered to pay court cost plus $800 to the Kiwanis.

The latest theft was discovered when detectives uncovered a check signed by Brack to the Kiwanis Club from the Whitcomb Methodist Church.

Investigators say the money was used for personal expenses.
