Lawrenceburg teen arrested following high-speed pursuit

Lawrenceburg, In. — A Lawrenceburg man was arrested following a multi-agency pursuit early Thursday morning.

A report from the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department says police attempted to stop a car driven by Joel P. R. McAdams, 19, for driving with no headlamps and operating left of center on U.S. 50 at 2:50 a.m.

When police activated emergency lights, McAdams fled at speeds reaching 100-miles-per-hour west on U.S. 50. When McAdams crashed deputies exited their vehicles and attempted to make an arrest. McAdams fled eastbound on the westbound of U.S. 50 and continued the chase. After a second crash, the suspect was arrested without incident and taken to Dearborn County Hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, police determined McAdams was intoxicated and had drugs in his possession.

Dearborn County sheriff’s deputies were assisted by police departments from Lawrenceburg,  Aurora and Greendale, Indiana State Police and the Aurora Fire Department.
