Former Batesville councilman, public servant passes away

(Batesville, IN) – The Batesville community is mourning the passing of a longtime former city councilman.

Don Karbowski served 24 years on Batesville City Council, plus another 20 on the Park Board.

He also served on a number of community boards and committees.

Karbowski was a founding member of the Batesville Historical Society; served on the Margaret Mary Health Board of Directors for 18 years; Past President of the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce; Ripley County Tourism Commission; a charter member of the Southeastern Indiana YMCA, and co-chair of the Batesville Sesquicentennial Campaign

He was named recipient of Batesville’s Distinguished Service Award in 2004 and was selected one year as King of the Batesville Kiwanis Applefest.

Don Karbowski passed away last week at the age of 90.
