(Southeastern IN) – The National Weather says significant severe weather is expected this afternoon and evening.
Most of Southeastern Indiana is under a Moderate (4 out of 5) risk for severe storms, while most of Decatur County and parts of Franklin County are under an Enhanced (3 out 5) risk.
Forecasters say several tornadoes are possible, with a chance for a few strong twisters.
The biggest threat is from 3 to 10 p.m.
There is also a significant risk for damaging winds and large hail.
Also, heavy rain will lead to the threat of flash flooding.
A Flood Advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. this evening.
Meanwhile, severe thunderstorm warnings were issued throughout the area early this morning.
Because a number of roads were flooded or blocked by fallen trees and power lines, Franklin County Community Schools were closed on Tuesday.
