Flood Watch Wednesday Through Sunday

(Southeastern IN) – A Flood Watch will go into effect Wednesday evening and run all the way through Sunday morning.

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

Ripley, Franklin, Dearborn and Decatur counties are included in the watch area.

The National Weather Service says a boundary will cross the region on Wednesday night and create significant rainfall with a round of thunderstorms developing.

Starting Thursday, this boundary will linger through Saturday.

The heaviest rainfall will occur during overnight hours through the end of the week, with significant downpours expected to end Saturday night.

Forecasters say soils are still moist and excessive runoff could result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Those living in low-lying or flood prone areas should be prepared to take action.

You’re urged to monitor the latest forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.
