(Greensburg, IN) – The first of this year’s three City of Greensburg Public Safety Community Cookouts is scheduled for 6-8 Thursday night on Maureen Road between E. Tara and E. Israel streets.

City leaders say the aim of the cookouts is for the public to engage with first responders in a positive way.

The cookouts are free and open to the public, and are put on by the City of Greensburg and its police and fire departments.

The second cookout will take place on June 5 from 6-8 p.m. on N. East Street between 5th Street and Jorim Drive.

The third and final cookout will be held on National Night Out at North Park on August 14 from 5-8 pm.

In addition, city-led outreach events will be held in July at the Decatur County Fair, and during the Tree City Fall Festival in September.  The city will set up a public safety booth at each of those events.

The series wraps up with an outreach at the Greensburg High School home football game on October 17.
