BATESVILLE, IN — Crewmembers from Osgood-based Iron Timbers spent Friday morning installing the sculpture (pictured) that will be part of Women’s Legacy Park in downtown Batesville.

The outdoor gathering space, also known as Inspiration Park, will commemorate 2020’s 100th anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage Movement, and honor the rich legacy of women who have shown vision and tenacity to become significant contributors to the Batesville community.

The five inaugural honorees are Margaret Hillenbrand and Mary Mitchell, the co-founders of Margaret Mary Hospital (now known as Margaret Mary Health); Safe Passage founder Jane Yorn; Jolene Rockwood, the founder of the Batesville Area Arts Council, and Amack’s Well founder Roberta Cook.

Unveiling ceremonies for Women’s Legacy Park are scheduled for Thursday, December 9 at 4:30 pm.
