(Greensburg, IN) – A delivery driver was injured when his van crashed into a business at Greensburg Crossing on Wednesday morning.
Greensburg Police say the driver had a medical episode and his vehicle left the west side of State Road 3 around 6:46 a.m.
The van went through a ditch, a fence, and a bush and crashed into a portico on the back side of the building housing H & R Block.
Police say the driver was unconscious but kept his foot on the accelerator, which caused tires to keep spinning until they caught on fire.
An officer arrived and pulled the driver from the van and extinguished the fire.
The unidentified victim was taken by ambulance to Decatur County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The van was towed to the Greensburg Police Department, where it was secured until the delivery company could retrieve its contents, which were medications being taken to local medical facilities.
Greensburg Police received assistance from Decatur County Communications; the Greensburg Fire Department; Decatur County EMS; Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, and Platinum Wrecker Service.
