Farm Bureau helps with alternative “auction”

Greensburg, IN —Many of the 4-H livestock project members began preparing months before COVID -19 became a reality. While the entire Decatur Co. 4-H Council is focusing on what must happen to host a very modified live show for these 4-H members, the traditional 4-H auction to reward these young people for their hard work is not going to happen in the traditional way.
This is where Decatur County Farm Bureau Incorporated is stepping up and asking our community to pull together an alternative. It is asking you to join this cause with your monetary support.
It believes that not having an auction will be extremely detrimental for this year’s and future 4-Hers. Helping connect support for the 4-H members has the potential to directly impact those in livestock projects and offers a different, better outcome in these unprecedented times.
Decatur County Farm Bureau Inc. has set up an account to collect donations through the Napoleon State Bank: “Decatur County 4-H Livestock Auction Supporters”. It hopes to raise as much money as possible to give back to 4-Hers who are involved in the 4-H livestock projects that would normally benefit at the traditional 4-H livestock auction. It is only intended for this fundraiser to be a 1-year solution. It is our hope that next year the Decatur County 4-H Fair will return with great success and once again there will be the traditional 4-H auction.
There are two options for collecting your donation. You may go directly with your donation to any of the Napoleon State Bank branches –Greensburg (2 branches), Westport, and Napoleon. Location addresses are provided below; or mail a check that will be deposited into the same account for you. Donation deadline is August 15, 2020.
Checks should be made payable to: Decatur County 4-H Livestock Auction Supporters.
If mailing a check, please send to:
