Evelyn graduated from Brookville High School in 1963 and was employed by Western-Southern Life Insurance before moving back to Batesville.  Many may remember Evelyn working at the Batesville State Bank as a teller for 20 years before she found her calling to be a  caregiver to the “little nuns” at the Sisters of St. Francis Infirmary in Oldenburg.  She impacted many the lives of her patients with her comfort and care.  She also gave back to the community as a volunteer EMT for the Batesville Life Squad for 14 years.  Being called upon to make emergency runs at any hour of the day.  When she retired she continued to serve others by working with the Religion for Special Ed Adults program.

Nothing was more important in Evelyn’s  life than her family.  She and her husband raised five children. Her children, and family members would look forward to “Grandma’s Cooking” at family gatherings.  She was one half of what the family would affectionally call the “H & E Cannery”, where she and Harry would can the various produce that was grown out of their large garden.

Her faith was important to her as she and Harry would go and pray at the St. Louis Perpetual Adoration Chapel in the early morning hours every week.  She passed this strong sense of faith along to her children.

Evelyn had many pastimes.  She and Harry would regularly cheer on the IU Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds teams, never missing a televised game.  She also enjoyed attending the sporting and school events of her grandchildren.  She would enjoyed doing the crossword puzzles that were in the daily paper.  She enjoyed bowling and playing at the Casino.  She was a gifted quilter.  She learned this talent from her mother, Delores and she passed this passion on to her daughter.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Harry and their children Rosann (Terrance) Giesting of Liberty Twp., Ohio, Tony (Terri) Kolter of Louisville, Kentucky, Nancy (Steve) Ollier of Batesville, Indiana, Christopher (Tiffanie) Kolter of Titusville, Florida and Elizabeth (Chad Roehing) Kolter of Greenwood, Indiana.  She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Matthew, William, Zachary, Patrick, Caroline, Trent, Isabella, Jackson, Ryne, Reece and Lucy, two step grandchildren Nick and Emily and two great grandchildren Luca and Clarke.  And numerous nieces and nephews.
