Eric A. “Ric” Fullenkamp, 72, Batesville

Eric A. “Ric” Fullenkamp, age 72 of Batesville, died Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at his home. Born in Batesville October 5, 1949, he is the son of Lillian (Nee: Vierling) and Victor Fullenkamp. Ric married Melanie King (Nee: Williams) February 24, 1978 in Brookville. He worked with his father, brother and cousin over the years at Fullenkamp’s Sporting Goods store until 1996. He then spent the next 16 years with New Point Stone Company in charge of quality control, before retiring in 2012. In retirement he did some work part time for Harrison Stone and Gravel.

As a life-long resident, Ric left an impression on many people. From the customers he helped at “The Store” as it was affectionately referred, to those he taught how to swim or who he coached in softball; years later many still came up to him to remind him how he affected their lives. He was also a long-time league bowler and participated in several golf leagues through the years.

Ric cherished time with family and friends and loved to vacation with his people. He loved a good party and was always quick with a “Dad” joke. He was also an avid “to do” list maker, crossing things off as each task was completed. He liked spending time outside and always kept the yard and garden (his estate, the family teased) meticulously manicured. He enjoyed reading, a good crossword puzzle, and as a proud IU alum, liked to watch his Hoosiers win.

He is survived by his wife Melanie of Batesville; daughter Molly (Ray Ghirardo) Fullenkamp; son Aaron (Janae) Fullenkamp; grandchildren Elijah and Adeline Fullenkamp, all of El Sobrante, California; sister Margaret (John) Nieman and brothers Dan (Maria) Fullenkamp and Gary (Linnie) Fullenkamp, and his Brothers-in law and wives, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Ric’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. Friday, July 15th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Fullenkamp Grandchildren’s Education Fund or Margaret Mary Health Hospice Foundation.
