OSGOOD, IN — Karley Bushhorn was named Miss Ripley County 2022 at Sunday night’s pageant at the Damm Theater in Osgood.

“I was so surprised. It means so much. All of these girls are wonderful and they’ve done such a great job. And it’s been so much fun meeting everyone and I cannot wait to represent Ripley County in the best way I can,” Bushhorn said.

In addition to the big prize, Bushhorn won the People’s Choice Award, the Professional Wear Award, and the Kompassion Scholarship, which honors the memory of Kristy Sams, who died unexpectedly in June 2019.

Sams helped her children with their 4-H projects for the Ripley County Fair and was involved in a number of other community activities.

“I am glad that I was able to raise a lot of money to help out a family that does so much for the community. That means a lot. And being voted on by the committee as the People’s Choice Award – that meant a lot, too. Being able to be that person who’s kind and open to everyone, means a lot,” she added.

Bushhorn will be a Freshman this fall at Butler University, where she will study Health Sciences with a concentration in Pre-Med.

Emily Campbell was 1st runner-up; the 2nd runner-up was Machaela Cobler, who also won the Formal Wear Award; Emilee Knueven was 3rd runner up and Miss Congeniality, and Shelley Hoffrogge was 4th runner up.

A total of nine contestants took part in this year’s Miss Ripley County pageant.

Bushhorn will reign over the Ripley County 4H Fair, which begins Sunday.

WRBI’s Brent Lee served as the pageant’s Master of Ceremonies.
