Elizabeth Louise “Betty” Macke, age 87, passed away on June 22nd, 2025, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg, Indiana. Born July 17, 1937, in Batesville, Indiana, to Clarence and Rosa (nee Artmire) Roell. She married Eugene Leo Macke on April 27, 1957, at St Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, Indiana.
Betty grew up attending St Louis School and Batesville High School and was a life-long member of St Louis Catholic Church. Betty was also a member of the Batesville Eagle’s Ladies Auxiliary Group. She was a home maker who raised a family that extended well beyond her three boys. Betty took numerous family vacations and shopping trips with her daughters. Her family was her pride and joy, and she loved spending numerous hours with all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty worked as a Batesville Police Department dispatcher from home, a night clerk at Hillenbrand, and Co-Managed the Gibson Theater. She was a lover of all sports and could be found rooting for IU Men’s Basketball, Notre Dame Football, Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and her hometown Batesville sports teams.
Betty is survived by her sons Stephen (Donna) Macke and Kevin (Kristy) Macke both of Batesville; daughter-in-law and soon to be son-in-law Kathy (Jeff Graves) Macke of New Point, IN; grandchildren Kaitlynn (Kyle) Linville of Batesville, IN, Tyler (Vanessa) Macke of Milan, IN, Kelsey (Will) Ollier of Batesville, IN, Kollin (Olivia) Macke of Hope, IN, Karson Macke of Columbus, IN, and Jacob Macke of New Point, IN; great-grandchildren Michael and Gavin Linville, Leo Macke, and Luca Ollier with a baby Ollier on the way; extended family Melanie (Richard) Hartwell of Batesville, IN, and their children Carson and Grant; and cousins. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband Eugene Macke (December 27, 2001) and companion Paul Hartman (April 20, 2019); son Darin Macke; and sister Sylvia Roell.
Visitation is Wednesday, June 25th, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., at Weigel Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 26th, at 10 a.m., at St Louis Catholic Church with Fr. Stan Pondo officiating. The burial will immediately follow at St Louis Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Batesville Fire/EMS or the St Louis School in lieu of flowers.
