Elijia “Eli” Austin King, 28, of Milan passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023 in Jacksonville, Florida. Eli was born on Friday, July 14, 1995 in Batesville; son of Albert King and Cheryl (Schuman) Justice. Eli married the love of his life, Maya (Howie) King, on October 22, 2021 and she survives. Eli proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. (USMC-11) entered May 2018 and honorable discharge June 2022, getting a rank of LCPL. He worked at FSI in Jacksonville, Florida. Eli was a member of Boy Scout Troop #631 and became an Eagle Scout on September 1, 2011 and he received The Eagle Scout Project of the Year award. He graduated from Milan High School in 2014 where he enjoyed playing football. He later graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 2018 with a bachelor’s in computer science. Eli enjoyed working on projects around the house, building with Legos and playing video games.
Eli will be missed by his wife Maya King of Jacksonville, Florida; parents Albert (Lisa) King of Palm Bay, Florida, and Cheryl (Chris) Justice of Aurora; sisters Cassi (Trevor) Yablonski of Dayton, Ohio, Grace King of Palm Bay, Florida, and Emersen King of Palm Bay, Florida.
Eli was preceded in death by his brother Grady King.
A memorial service will be held from 3:30-6:00 PM, Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A service will immediately follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor LaJo Dunbar officiating. Military rites will be provided by Milan American Legion Post #235. Memorials may be given in honor of Eli to the Epilepsy Foundation or Arbor Day Foundation.
