(St. Leon, IN) – East Central Middle School agriculture teacher McCord Snider is one of eight finalists for the FFA Golden Owl Award.

The statewide honor recognizes outstanding agriculture educators and their contributions toward helping the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Snider and the other nominees are eligible to be named Indiana Agricultural Educator of the Year along with taking home cash prizes and the Golden Owl trophy.

He has also been named a Golden Owl finalist the past two years.

The winner will be named later this year.

From November 1 through December 31, nominations were collected for the state’s top agricultural teachers from local students, parents, fellow teachers and community members across Indiana.

Each finalist was presented with an individualized plaque (pictured) and received a $500 check to support future educational efforts.

Next, they’ll be entered into a final selection stage for the chance to be crowned as Indiana’s Ag Educator of the Year, earning an additional $3,000 check and the coveted Golden Owl Award trophy.

The Golden Owl Award was established to honor the contributions of teachers and support their programs with additional resources to assist their continued educational efforts.
