(St. Leon, IN) – A National FFA Professional Development Grant from the Lilly Endowment of $3,000 was recently awarded to McCord Snider, an agricultural educator within the East Central FFA Chapter.

This grant is part of a statewide initiative in which 25 Indiana agricultural teachers were selected through a competitive
application process.

The grant provides individual Indiana school-based agricultural educators the opportunity to engage in
professional development focused on emerging trends in agriculture and engagement for a sense of belonging in all
students.

“This grant will allow me travel to the National Association of Agricultural Educators Convention in Nashville, Tennessee in December. This experience will be packed full of sessions that I will attend to further gain knowledge that would foster better educational practices and additional immersive opportunities for my students,” Snider said. “I look forward to taking this opportunity to bring innovative learning experiences back to my students here at Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools.”

The National FFA Organization, in partnership with the Lilly Endowment, aims to support agricultural educators in expanding their expertise to better serve students across Indiana.
