Eckerle Rauch, Riedeman Named to Silver Anniversary Team

Miranda (Eckerle) Rauch of Franklin County and Greensburg’s Sara Riedeman are among 18 women have been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2026 women’s Silver Anniversary Team, based on outstanding accomplishments as basketball players throughout their careers in high school, college and, in some cases, professionally.

The Silver Anniversary Team recognizes players from the graduating class of 25 years earlier – in this case, honorees all are 2001 high school graduates. The 2026 Silver Anniversary Team includes 11 players who were named to the 2001 Indiana All-Star squad.  Seven other All-State caliber players are included to recognize the top of Indiana’s high school class of 2001.

Miranda (Eckerle) Rauch set career school records with 1,432 points and 804 rebounds in 91 games over four seasons for Franklin County teams that went 72-19. She also set school records for season points (475 as a junior), season rebounds (242 as a senior), points in a game (32) and rebounds in a game (21) in helping the Wildcats capture three Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference championships, two sectionals and one regional for coach Jon Hancher.

The 6-foot-0 forward averaged 7.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals as a freshman for a 14-9 team. She netted 15.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.8 steals as a sophomore for a 16-4 squad. She tallied 20.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals as a junior for an 18-5 sectional winner. She provided 18.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists as a senior for a 24-1 regional champion.

A 2001 Indiana All-Star, Eckerle was selected 2001 ICGSA first-team All-State, twotime AP All-State (2000 honorable mention, 2001 third team), three-time first-team all-EIAC and three-time conference MVP. She also played in the 2001 North/South Indiana All-Star Classic.

Eckerle went on to Eastern Kentucky University, where she stands 14th with 1,342 career points, ninth with 594 career rebounds while adding 138 assists and 125 steals in 120 games for teams that went 79-42 and won two Ohio Valley Conference regular-season titles, the 2005 OVC Tournament as well as playing in the 2002 Women’s NIT and the 2005 NCAA Tournament. She also is on several other EKU top-10 lists, including third in career 3-point accuracy (.420), fourth in career free throws (352), ninth in season 3-point accuracy (.433 as a senior) and 10th in career free throw accuracy (.789).

In 2001-02, Eckerle averaged 7.0 points, 3.7 rebounds for a 23-8 squad and was named to the OVC all-freshman team. In 2002-03, she tallied 13.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and was named honorable mention all-OVC for an 18-11 squad. In 2003-04, she netted 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds for a 15-15 team. In 2004-05, she provided 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and was chosen first-team all-OVC and MVP of the 2005 OVC Tournament as the Colonels went 23-8.

Eckerle earned bachelor’s degree in physical education from Eastern Kentucky in 2005 and a master’s degree in school counseling from the University of West Alabama-Livingston in 2011. Since 2006, she has worked as a teacher or counselor in Franklin County Schools with time at Franklin County High School, Brookville Middle School, Franklin County Middle School, Mt. Carmel Elementary School and Brookville Elementary School. She currently is a physical education teacher at Brookville Elementary.

She was inducted into the Franklin County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2025 and inducted as part of her 2004-05 college team into the EKU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2025. Rauch and her husband, Brett, are parents to Jerod and Kendall.

Sara Riedeman totaled school records of 1,729 points and 304 steals while added 345 assists in 88 games over four seasons for Greensburg teams that went 62-26 and won one Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference championship. She also set school records for career 3-point accuracy (.409), career free throw accuracy (.836), 44 points in a game (against Madison on Feb. 16, 2001) and eight 3-pointers in a game (against Hauser on Jan. 15, 2001, and also against Madison on Jan. 16, 2001).

Riedeman averaged 14.8 points, 3.0 assists and 2.7 steals as a freshman for a 14-7 team for coach Connie Dickman. The 5-foot-7 guard netted 14.6 points, 3.5 assists and 3.1 steals as a sophomore for a 12-10 squad. She provided 24.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.9 steals as a junior for an 18-4 team for coach Danny Brown. Riedeman tallied 23.9 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals as a senior for an 18-5 team for coach Rich Ballard.

A 2001 Indiana All-Star and 2000 Junior All-Star, she was selected 2001 ICGSA second-team All-State, two-time AP high honorable mention All-State, 2001 HBCA all-District 3, three-time all-sectional, four-time all-EIAC, four-time team MVP and played in the 2001 North/South Indiana All-Star Classic. She also was two-time Greensburg Daily News Player of the Year, four-time Daily News first-team All-Area, 2001 Columbus Republic Area Player of the Year and four-time Republic All-Area (1998 honorable mention; 1999, 2000, 2001 first team).

After high school, Riedeman played part of one season at Western Kentucky University. She then transferred to the University of Indianapolis, where she totaled 612 points, 138 rebounds, 68 assists, 81 steals and set a school record with a .442 career 3-point accuracy in 89 games over three seasons for teams that went 74-22 for teams that played in three NCAA Division II national tournaments for coach Teri Moren.

Riedeman averaged 3.0 points and 1.5 rebounds as a sophomore for a team that went 29-3 and won Great Lakes Valley Conference regular-season and GLVC Tournament titles. She tallied 7.5 points and 1.5 rebounds as a junior for a 23-9 squad. She provided 9.3 points and 1.7 rebounds as a senior for the 22-10 Greyhounds.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from UIndy in 2006 and a master’s degree in business administration from Ball State in 2023. She was an assistant coach at Indianapolis Bishop Chatard from 2005-08, posted a 68-28 record with three sectional titles and one regional title as girls’ varsity coach at Roncalli from 2008-12 and was a women’s assistant coach at Indiana State from 2012-16. She worked as a manager of insurance and senior services for Franciscan Health from 2017-23. Since 2023, she has been a broker/manager for Centene-Wellcare Indiana.

Riedeman, who was part of the 2002-03 UIndy team inducted as a team into UIndy Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016, currently serves on the UIndy Greyhound Club board. She also enjoys biking, exercising, gardening, attending sporting events and time with family and friends.

The 2026 women’s Silver Anniversary Team members, the 2026 women’s Center Circle Officials Award honorees and the 2026 women’s induction class will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 24th Women’s Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 25.
