(Sunman, IN) – The East Central FCCLA and FFA chapters held a ribbon cutting on Saturday for the Sunman Open Door Food Pantry, a “give and take” pantry designed to serve the Sunman community.
The pantry is located in Sunman Town Park, which makes it easily accessible by foot for those with limited transportation.
It’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide food, hygiene products, and essential supplies for anyone in need.
This project began as an idea from FCCLA members and 2025 East Central High School graduates Kayla and Layla Craig of Sunman.
They presented their proposal to Sunman Town Council in December 2023, where it received unanimous approval.
Working alongside East Central FFA, the Agriculture Mechanization class built the structure that now serves the community.
The continued operation of this project is being overseen by Annabelle Edmonds, Ellie Wolf, and Olivia Lyness, following the graduation of Kayla and Layla Craig.
