Earl Arthur Myers, 85

Earl Arthur Myers was born on July 10, 1940, in Lebanon, PA, to D. Earl Myers and Louise E. (Babb) Myers. He was called home to our Lord and Savior on July 20, 2025 in Greensburg, IN. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Paoli, IN at the time of his passing.
Earl was raised in a Navy family and lived many places where his father was stationed, including San Francisco, Philadelphia, Norfolk, VA, and Arlington, VA. His nickname “Sammy” was to honor his beloved maternal grandfather, Samuel Babb. He enjoyed outdoor activities and was a Boy Scout. He was an avid fisherman all his life. As a youth, he participated in church choir, baseball, basketball, football, track, and cross country. He was a member of the Virginia state championship cross country team at Wakefield High School (Arlington, VA).
After graduating from Wakefield High School in 1958, he attended Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. It was at a pre-school fraternity party that he met Joan Bishop. They fell in love, were pinned in November and were married on December 31, 1959. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this past year. They have lived in St. Louis, Greensburg, IN and English, IN.
Earl had a lifetime of community service. He showed his Christianity and his humanity by giving his time, especially to the youth. He has been a Boy Scout and Camp Fire Girl and church youth group leader. He was a Sunday school teacher, elder, church choir member, and church summer camp counselor. Besides fishing he enjoyed dancing, golf and coaching youth. He was a member of PTA, Music Parents, Big Blue and Tree County Players. He kept stats for various sports teams. He is an avid fan of Greensburg Community Schools and Crawford County Community Schools. He had a very special bond with the girls’ basketball team at Crawford County High School.
Earl and Joan have four children: Debbie (Brian) Ruble, Chris (Jeff Marshall) Myers, Sam (Karen Hufford) Myers, and Mike (Jennifer) Myers. They have 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and another on the way. Earl has a brother, John, three sisters, Kathy Westhoff, Bonnie (Merlyn) Rieffer, and Betsy Henry, and two sisters-in-law, Peggy (Mike) Herndon and Lisa Bishop. He has many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who love him.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, Dick Westhoff and Sam Bishop, one sister-in-law, Barbara Myers and daughter of the heart, Cindy Borisch. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
