Drugs, Gun Found in I-74 Stop

(Greensburg, IN) – Three Indianapolis residents were arrested early Wednesday morning following a traffic stop on Interstate 74 in Decatur County that led to the discovery of narcotics and a firearm, according to the Greensburg Police Department.

Police said the stop occurred at approximately 1:04 a.m. Jan. 7 near the 132-mile marker on westbound I-74. An officer initiated the stop for a traffic offense and later learned that one of the vehicle’s occupants had an active arrest warrant out of Johnson County.

During the investigation, a police K-9 was deployed and indicated the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered cocaine, heroin and a firearm with an altered serial number, police said.

The driver, Kristofer Kinmon, 31, of Indianapolis, was preliminarily charged with possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, unlawful carrying of a handgun, and possession of paraphernalia.

A passenger, Patricia Gregory, 57, of Indianapolis, was preliminarily charged with possession of cocaine and possession of paraphernalia.

Another passenger, Christopher Winkler, 36, of Indianapolis, was preliminarily charged with possession of cocaine and on an outstanding warrant issued by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Greensburg Police Department thanked the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department and Decatur County Communications for assisting with the investigation.

Under Indiana law, criminal charges are accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
