Dorothy M. Tebbe, age 84 of Greensburg, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Decatur County Hospital in Greensburg. Born January 7, 1933 in Ripley County Indiana, she is the daughter of Helen (Nee: Davis) and John Hiner. She married Loren Tebbe August 18, 1961 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Crossroads. She worked at Batesville Casket 44 years before retiring in 1995.
Dorothy loved helping Loren on the farm and being an animal lover, all the livestock got names and became pets….albeit temporarily. Besides the farm animals, she also had sweet spot for her cats. She was an avid Colts fan, enjoyed working jig saw puzzles together with Loren and sewed quite a bit over the years, usually embellishing something she’d purchased. When she retired from Batesville Casket, she and Loren bought a van and took a five week trip to Alaska, covering over 11,000 miles by the time they came home. It was a fond memory she spoke of often. In later years, according to her family, Dorothy discovered Bingo and it soon became her favorite pastime.
She is survived by her husband Loren; stepson Dennis (Carol) Tebbe of Greensburg and grandchildren Chris Tebbe and Denise Rippetoe-Tebbe, both of Batesville. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Mildred Lindow and brothers Russell and Raymond Hiner.
Visitation will be Friday, September 8th, from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:15 a.m. at St. Louis Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Decatur County Animal Shelter.
